Areas of interests

My research is in the area of public international law. I am particularly interested in issues of arms control, international security as well as the law of armed conflict. I completed a research project on the 1922 Washington Naval Treaty a few years ago. I am also interested in contemporary arms control regimes based on multilateral treaties, including the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.

Publication

List of my main publication as of April 2024 in Word format. The list of main publication including my articles in Japanese is here, equally in Word.
"Russia: The Crimea question and Autonomous Sanctions" is in an open-access chapter of a book, as of February 2024.

More recent work, a chapter in Security Dynamics in the South China Sea (Howard Hensel ed., forthcoming in 2024 from Routledge), is about the legal dimension of the conflicts and disputes in that region.
One of my recent book reviews is "The Treaty Prohibiting Nuclear Weapons: How it was Achieved and Why it Matters by Alexander Kmentt (2021)", Diplomacy & Statecraft 33(2) (2022): 416-417.
