Introduction to International Cooperation Law
The aim of this course is a quick acquisition of the basic knowledge of public international law and improving the briefing skills.
In the exercise, each participant is given a hypothetical situation that he/she needs to brief on as a legal advisor. The exercise involves both the identification of the relevant rules and the application of the rules thus identified to the hypothetical situation, in order to assess its legality. The number of course participants is around 15 each year.
International Security and International Law
The course is offered during the spring semester every year, save for the academic year 2024, in which the course will be offered in the fall semester. The class size in spring 2022 was relatively large, with around 20 participants.
The course deals with topics such as the law of armed conflict, arms control treaties (NPT, CWC, etc.), use of force, the UN Security Council, the ICJ cases related to these subjects, etc. The course is discussion-intensive. Reading assignment is relatively light.
